I am so excited to start this journey with you! My goal with this blog is to inform, to inspire, and most of all to help you make the changes that are possible in your own life. And with that let's begin with a "self-defeating belief" most of us struggle with...."I'm not good enough." I am a huge advocate of discovering the root of what is ailing us but this will vary from person to person and so I will focus on a few simple things you can DO today to
combat this false belief. A brief psychoeducation piece first; there are two main approaches to change: 1) monitoring our thoughts and changing them or 2) taking actions that then change our thoughts and essentially who we are. I will use the behavioral approach in today's intervention. So here they are:
Behaviors to Combat the "Not Good Enough" Belief:
1) Do something unconditional for YOU TODAY!
2) Set a boundary with someone that doesn't treat you like you are "good enough"
3) Ask yourself "If i knew I was good enough how would I act differently?" and take action on at least one of those answers
4) Listen to your thoughts and feelings and be a good friend to yourself
5) When you fall short today shrug your shoulders, congratulate yourself on being a fantastic human, and do something else
These are only a few suggestions that I have found helpful, personally, and that clients have applied and found success with. What are your suggestions? What has helped you to know you are "good enough?" Those are your "thoughts for the day" fellow travelers. Adieu 'til next time!
Next up: "Knowing Your Intrinsic Value"...so stay tuned!
